  25. Satan was the one coming before God accusing Job of only serving God
  26. for the cash, land, camels, sheep, etc.  So, to prove Satan wrong He
  27. allowed Satan to rake Job over the coals.  It wasn't so much to punish
  28. or torture (as you put it) Job, as to put Satan in his place.  That's 
  29. just MH interpretation of the story.  And, in the end God blesses Job 
  30. seven times more than he had to begin with; which just goes to prove
  31. Romans 8:28, "And we know that all things work together for good to
  32. them that love God, to them who are the called according to [his]
  33. purpose."
