- Satan was the one coming before God accusing Job of only serving God
- for the cash, land, camels, sheep, etc. So, to prove Satan wrong He
- allowed Satan to rake Job over the coals. It wasn't so much to punish
- or torture (as you put it) Job, as to put Satan in his place. That's
- just MH interpretation of the story. And, in the end God blesses Job
- seven times more than he had to begin with; which just goes to prove
- Romans 8:28, "And we know that all things work together for good to
- them that love God, to them who are the called according to [his]
- purpose."
