  27. I agree.  Consistency of belief is, IMHO, what everyone should strive for.

  40. Actually, I have to disagree.  Perhaps its arrogant of me, but I'll
  41. pick the human over the animal any day, no matter the sentience
  42. level invovled.  If you had a chance to save a baby or a grown
  43. gorilla from an onrushing truck, which would you pick?  I also
  44. support animal research on the grounds that it saves human lives.
  45. Perhaps someday we won't have to do this, and we will be looked
  46. back upon as barbarians, but killing animals is justified to save
  47. lives.  Hell, one of the most natural things to do is kill an animal
  48. and eat it.
