- This is what I get for taking an article in _American Atheists_ at face value
- AND misreading the article besides.

- 1. Public Law 140, signed on July 11, 1955 mandates "In God We Trust" on all
- currency and coins. In fact, "E Pluribus Unum" continues to appear on coins
- (I'd be interested in learning on which paper money it appears).

- 2. EPU was never the national motto. It was simply used on the Great Seal and
- was the defacto motto until Public Law was signed on July 30, 1956. At that
- time the national motto of the United states was "declared to be 'In God We
- Trust'".
