  12. There was an article in "Free Inquiry" about a woman who strongly
  13. believed it was wrong to tell your children about Santa Claus.
  14. First of all, you're lying to them and what is more devastating
  15. to a child than to find that their own parents are liars.  Secondly,
  16. it gives precedence to believing in patently impossible things. 
  17. Maybe it paves the way to believing in other impossible things 
  18. later in life -- like God, fer instance.

  20. What do other atheists think about Santa Claus?  And for that matter,
  21. how many of us celebrate Christmas?  Should we?  Even if we say
  22. we're celebrating the winter Soltice, that's still a religious
  23. holiday for druids.

  25. I haven't made up my mind yet about the Winter holidays (i.e. Xmas).
  26. So far it's just easier to go along with it and if someone assumes
  27. I'm an X-tian just because I celebrate X-mas... well, they're wrong!
