  20. it's time to resurrect the Home Championships (but don't let Eire in)  :-)

  26. To a large extent I agree with you about the high quality of Italian
  27. football, but I do often get the feeling on Sunday afternoons that I'd like
  28. to see them spend as much on decent defenders as they do on forwards etc.

  30. It will be interesting to see how well the Italian national team copes
  31. with the 'improvement' in Serie A, given that most of the top players
  32. play for Holland, Germany, Denmark, ... (I nearly mentioned England
  33. there, too!).

  35. One other point I would make about the standard of football in England
  36. (but not the rest of the UK) is the sheer depth of 'quality'.  Our best
  37. isn't as good as Serie A IMHO, but one suspects that the GM Conference is
  38. rather higher than the '5th division' in most other countries.
