  16. I agree basically, with the caveat that life is the
  17. ability to block and transform information - which 
  18. blocking and transfering must be balanced.  A rock
  19. between two people can block information but not
  20. transfer much - therefore is a high level life form.

  22. A computer can block some information going between
  23. people and transfer other pieces of information - but
  24. its ability to make realtime decisions of what to block
  25. and transfer is very limited - therefore a computer is
  26. a very low level life form.

  28. Some humans have the ability to block and transfer fairly
  29. large levels of information.  Other humans have the very
  30. little information processing abilities.  Under this kind
  31. approach some people are at different levels of living - and
  32. the catagorization of life forms is based more on computational
  33. ability and aproach, rather than the format of which the computation
  34. is taking place (i.e. a computer that has a better understanding of
  35. all aspects of this planet may be considered more alive than a human
  36. that only lives by stereotypes and ignorance).
