- I have lived in this country for several years and one thing that
- amazes me is that: Why even small changes in ingrained habits
- and institutional functioning are not being thought of, which
- can reduce consumption?
- For example, the drive in service at the banks? Is it
- necessary, does it save it time at all? My experience has been that
- when i have gone to the bank for a transaction , there are long lines of
- cars all running, consuming gas and polluting for anything bettween 10 min
- to 30 min. In fact the first time i went on a sataurday, they refused to
- serve me since i was on foot! Are people so lazy that they cannot get
- off and walk in to the bank, or cannot the same bank person serve the
- people if they stand in line inside. May be this is not true for all banks
- but for the ones in Champaign do certainly encourage
- wasteful consumption and lazy lifestyles.
