- So? Hauk seemed to be postulating that a fetus was sentient just because it
- supposedly has the capability of dreaming. The person you responded to
- rightly pointed out that her notion is ludicrous.

- I accept the development of the cerebral cortex, which is the part of the
- brain that allows us to think and reason, and which, if present at all in
- other animals, is less developed. Of course, this is assuming that there
- is no gross abnormality of the brain or body that would render the fetus
- incapable of using its cerebral cortex, once developed.
