  17. vis-a-vis his AntiBible stance, it merely confirms that he is a bit of a

  55. eeek. I am placed in an uncomfortable position, much like that occupied by  
  56. andre the giant in the 'princess bride', who was forced to tell his boss  
  57. (the big baddie) that one of his words did not mean what he thought it  
  58. meant. Though the word "slave" and "slavery" do occur in the Five Books of  
  59. Moses  as well as the NT, there is a difference between what it meant  
  60. THEN, and what it means now (although there was some overlap, as in the  
  61. sojourn in Egypt, wherein conditions of slavery were very much like they  
  62. are today. The Bible does, however, condemn THAT sort of slavery, tho, so  
  63. the point is moot). The duties of the master towards a slave were much  
  64. more strictly defined during that time, as were the legal protections of   
  65. the rights of the slave (as opposed to the modern conception of slavery,  
  66. which is closer to the Egyptian model, as noted above). Slavery as we tend  
  67. to conceive of it (as it was in the good ol' US of A) is most emphatically  
  68. NOT what was meant by the slavery which was approved of in yon Bible. 
  69. In any event, could we stipulate that Petey could possibly have a point  
  70. here (other than the one on the top of his pin-head), that to be against  
  71. slavery in it's modern form is not necessarily to be a  
  72. SexularHumanistStoogeoftheZionistImperialistBankingClass?

  74. Note: none of the above implies any sort of endorsement of either Petey,  
  75. his positions, or of Paul and his positions. Paul always struck me as an  
  76. odd sort for a saint, but then, I'm not in charge of the calendar, so I  
  77. guess I can't kvetch.............................................
