- In article <1992Nov20.213528.764@wetware.com> drieux@wetware.com (drieux,
- just drieux) proclaims that Petey (NOTE: the spelling is a personal thing,
- I think it has to do with the languages one learned and/or heard as a
- child, rather than geography/SAT scores, but that's just me.............)
- is antiBibile because he spouts Alan Keyes. Much as it pains me, I must
- disagree with MAster Drieux on this point. Petey's souting proves notyhing
- vis-a-vis his AntiBible stance, it merely confirms that he is a bit of a
- conservative bonehead. But I digress...........:

- eeek. I am placed in an uncomfortable position, much like that occupied by
- andre the giant in the 'princess bride', who was forced to tell his boss
- (the big baddie) that one of his words did not mean what he thought it
- meant. Though the word "slave" and "slavery" do occur in the Five Books of
- Moses as well as the NT, there is a difference between what it meant
- THEN, and what it means now (although there was some overlap, as in the
- sojourn in Egypt, wherein conditions of slavery were very much like they
- are today. The Bible does, however, condemn THAT sort of slavery, tho, so
- the point is moot). The duties of the master towards a slave were much
- more strictly defined during that time, as were the legal protections of
- the rights of the slave (as opposed to the modern conception of slavery,
- which is closer to the Egyptian model, as noted above). Slavery as we tend
- to conceive of it (as it was in the good ol' US of A) is most emphatically
- NOT what was meant by the slavery which was approved of in yon Bible.
- In any event, could we stipulate that Petey could possibly have a point
- here (other than the one on the top of his pin-head), that to be against
- slavery in it's modern form is not necessarily to be a
- SexularHumanistStoogeoftheZionistImperialistBankingClass?
-
- Note: none of the above implies any sort of endorsement of either Petey,
- his positions, or of Paul and his positions. Paul always struck me as an
- odd sort for a saint, but then, I'm not in charge of the calendar, so I
- guess I can't kvetch.............................................

- ps. I do not feel the need to be saved. Or to repent, for that matter.
- When the time comes, I'll just lay my cards on the table, and invite the
- Big Guy to do likewise. I'll even cut him a deal, i'll forgive Him His if
- He forgives me mine. I figure we'll be even.
-
- But I , of course, digress............
