- As to whether it should be changed, I see practical problems that
- distinguish it from the abortion situation. The situation you
- describe is quite a rare one, and the decisions would have to be made
- very quickly. Some of them would be hard to make quickly -- for
- example, in order to decide whether the situation you describe exists
- the authorities would have to determine whether you alone had caused
- the accident, which would likely be rather difficult. So it doesn't
- seem sensible to go to the trouble of establishing institutions and
- procedures that could deal competently with that kind of unusual
- occurrence.
