- The VA Medical Center in Minneapolis had to pay $50,000 in damages recently
- just for that reason. A patient at the VAMC was asked repeatedly to donate
- his corneas when he died, as was his wife. With each refusal to sign the
- necessary forms the doctor(s) making the request were increasingly rude and
- abusive. Even without authorization, a doctor attempted to remove this
- patient's corneas at the moment of death.
