- Subject: re: "marker" names
-
- Alicia has quantified/qualified something that has been useful to me on a
- couple of occasions:
-
- Thomas Porter settled Northampton, MA in 1730
- son - Gehiel Porter - b Northampton, MA
- - son Luther Porter b Northampton, MA
-
- Gehiel Porter 1850 Fed Census OH (w/family) b. MA
- Luther Porter 1860 Fed Census OH (w/family of Gehiel above & 10 yrs older)
- son - Luther J. Porter
-
- I tried for some time to make sense out of the above - then came across
- family history that pointed out the the family names of Gehiel (Jehiel)
- and Luther were interchanged generationally - So the Gehiel and Luther above
- turned out to be the same guy (Jehiel Luther Porter) and his son was Luther
- Jehiel Porter. And with those names what are the odds they are NOT related??
-
-
- Likewise Rotheus Hayward Scott & Son Hayward Rotheus Scott - names
- interchanged generationally. What are the chances of a Rotheus Scott later
- NOT being related.
-
- I like the concept and it has worked out well for me.
