  11. My last query regarding Oregon Libraries on the Internet turned 
  12. out to be very productive.  Thank you one and all.  With the 
  13. success of my last query I have constructed a new query.

  15. I have recently obtained a copy of my great great grandmothers, 
  16. Mary Ellen ALDRICH, death certificate.  Note, she went by the 
  17. alias of May.  Three items on the certificate are only partially 
  18. distinguishable.

  20. The one item I think someone on the net might be able to help me 
  21. with is the place of birth.  The part of the scrawl I was able to 
  22. decipher was California.  On the other hand, the city/town (?) is 
  23. very difficult to read, but I think one of the words might be 
  24. Diggings.  Hence, I think grandma May's place of birth is 
  25.  
  26.         XXXXXX Diggings California.

  28. Where XXXXXXX is unkown since I cannot read it.  To help establish
  29. a time frame, her date of birth is calculated to be 31 Oct 1861.  
  30. Does anybody know what the "X" might be?  Is there now, or use to be 
  31. any towns with the name of Diggings in the name?  Is there any 
  32. California counties or towns that contain the word, or a word similar 
  33. to Diggings?  Suggestions might give me just that little bit of extra 
  34. information to help me match it to what is written on the certificate.
