  13. I just found this newsgroup and after browsing through some 100 articles
  14. it seems to me a very nice and kind place....

  17. Mac Software Compatibility:
  18. I got a MacIntosh PB recently and just starting to learn and experiment
  19. with the vast amount of software. One of my puzzles is the compatibility:
  20. F.i. I found several programms (sorry, applications) and Hypercard stacks
  21. dealing with genealogy. From what I saw and heard the PAF seems to be the 
  22. most allround system and I saw anotherone mentioned: BK (?)
  23. I dont want to purchase any packadge now (see below) and I fear that I will
  24. waste time if I start entering data into one of the other programms (sorry,
  25. applications) now, because I know nothing about compatibility ?
  26. Once I have typed in all my data and would find the PAF (or whatever) to
  27. suit me much better, do I have a chance of just transferring the data ?

  29. Programm (sorry, application) - FAQ:
  30. I am certainly not the first one to ask about a review and comparison
  31. of the software that is available. Someone collected those 'reviews' ?

  33. I am looking for features like to produce nice trees for gifts as my father's
  34. silables (sp?) are in that age of 55 60 65 75 ....
  35. And of course it should allow (unlimited) storage of additional information
  36. per person or family.

  39. I am from Germany and will return early 1993. That's why I dont want 
  40. to order big manuals now and carry them then...
  41. I saw a lot of Germany related questions in the recent postings
  42. and just thought I might be able to help (from when I am back).
  43. Well, I am not a genealogy freak, but an address or so should be no problem.
