- Have been in hibernation for some time. The beginning of the Christmas Season
- does that to me. But I have been reading this group. And I just read something
- that scares the hell out of me.
-
- Someone, objecting to Elf's dislike of androginous men, refered to the
- expression of an opinion as an action equivalent to Oppression.
-
- Does this bother anyone else, is it just me?
-
- The only way to prevent "bad" opinions from being "expressed" is to censor
- them. And sometimes to shut someone up, extreme messures are needed.
-
- And this is the problem I have with the whole PC movement. Like all politcal
- theories, it has a good set of rhetoric. Intorlerance of intolerance, I can
- hang with that. That sounds cool. Diversity in culture, taking care of the
- planet, ect. This all sounds cool.
-
- But very quickly, they turn into something very rotten. They become oppresive.
- Not to the same people who were oppressed before, but to a different group.
- They want to enforce their ideas with the weight of law. And for most of them,
- they just wnat to right the wrongs.
-
- But in the end all it means is the game is the same, just the players have
- swapped parts. In the end, they all become oppresive, and all they've done is
- trade rhetorics.
