  18. The Asarco smelter stack, Ruston.  Would cost countless tens of millions
  19. to make a freestanding masonry tower 600 feet tall today.  Amazing
  20. piece of handiwork.  Quite impressive up close with the huge arched
  21. flues forty feet high at the base.  It sits on a bluff all by iteslf now,
  22. although much of the smelter still remains by the water.  See it while
  23. you still can.  It *should* be cleaned up and have an observation deck
  24. put on top.  Soon to be blown up.  I guess that makes it performance art.
