- PSINet(R) EXTENDED THROUGHOUT THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST
-
- Reston, VA - November 18, 1992 - Performance Systems International, Inc.
- (PSI) today announced an expansion of its wide area network, PSINet, in the
- Pacific Northwest. PSI has signed an agreement with DigiNet Telecommunications,
- of Mercer Island, Washington, to provide its interorganizational frame relay
- service, InterFrame, to additional cities including:
-
- Eugene, OR Olympia, WA
- Hermiston, OR Spokane, WA
- Salem, OR Yakima, WA
- and the Tri-Cities area of Washington
-
- The agreement will also allow PSI to improve its services in the Seattle, WA
- and Portland, OR areas where PSI has operated now for over a year.
-
- InterFrame is PSI's next generation wide area internetwork service that
- provides access to the global TCP/IP Internet using state-of-the-art frame
- relay technology. PSI has deployed Cascade Communication Corp.'s STDX family
- of frame relay switches into its national network backbone to provide the
- service.
-
- The relationship between PSI and DigiNet will create the first
- Network-to-Network Interface (NNI) between frame relay service providers
- in the nation. Dick Stroup, President of DigiNet commented, "We are
- very pleased to be able to team up with PSI to provide InterFrame service
- in the Pacific Northwest. The fact that both of our networks employ
- Cascade Communications' STDX frame relay switches considerably simplifies
- the interface."
-
- Daniel E. Smith, President and CEO of Cascade Communications Corp. added,
- "Frame relay service spanning multiple carriers is the key to satisfying
- customers' ubiquitous connectivity needs. Cascade is proud to work with
- DigiNet Telecommunications and PSI to enable the first intercarrier frame
- relay service using the NNI standard."
