- Well, there used to be this place called Sparta. They were known far
- and wide for their military valor. And they didn't exactly *discourage*
- homosexual behavior in their armies. In fact, it was more or less
- required.......

- But then, the social context in which this occurred was so different
- that I really don't think it proves much of anything at all about
- the current controversy. To the Greeks, homosexuality wasn't an
- "alternate lifestyle," it was just something you did when you had the
- chance, and felt the urge.
