  18. Well, there used to be this place called Sparta. They were known far
  19. and wide for their military valor. And they didn't exactly *discourage*
  20. homosexual behavior in their armies. In fact, it was more or less
  21. required.......

  23. But then, the social context in which this occurred was so different
  24. that I really don't think it proves much of anything at all about
  25. the current controversy. To the Greeks, homosexuality wasn't an
  26. "alternate lifestyle," it was just something you did when you had the
  27. chance, and felt the urge.
