  33. At the risk of pulling out my red handkerchief in the midst of the
  34. bull pen, I'll ask a question out of pure curiosity:  What is the
  35. oldest extant copy of the Talmud - 1000 CE or thereabouts?  Or is
  36. there a copy closer in age to the Dead Sea Scrolls?  Also, did the
  37. scribes follow the same procedure of copy-then-destroy-the-original
  38. with the Talmud as they generally did with the Scriptures?
