  13. I saw an article in the NYTimes a while ago that said that
  14. halogen lamps produce a lot of radiation in the UV-b region.
  15. This is supposedly a harmful part of the spectrum.  The authors
  16. were irate  over the fact that manufactures of the these lamps 
  17. do not in general supply some sort of a cover to filter these rays out.
