- Have you heard of XlispStat ? One thing nice about
- it is that it is free and that there are versions of
- which run under DOS and UNIX. You should be able
- to get it at the ftp sight "umnstat.stat.umn.edu".
- Last summer I took a course called "Financial Data Analysis"
- where the students were split into groups and each
- had to make a presentation about available statistical
- software . Two groups discussed the XlispStat package
- running on the MAC. Based on their presentations,
- I was impressed by the "Data Movie" application, the
- overall graphics (e.g. you could get a 3/D plot and
- spin it around in any direction), and the ease of use
- of the package. There was one built in feature,
- I don't recall precisely what they was - perhaps an
- CART application- which made the instructor really like
- it. Documentation is pretty good since a Wiley text
- explains it all. Obviously, if you already know LISP, you
- can use the software to enhance what you write.
-
- BTW, all that standard stuff for ANOVA , regression, and t
- statistics is in there too.
