- I must disagree. You are right, of course--without a proper parental
- attitude a child is going to be hard to interest in learning; however, even
- with proper parental attitude, the hours spent in the stupifying atmosphere
- of today's schools can destroy a child's natural interest in learning. The
- "students who don't give a shit" you speak of may actually have been
- created by the school system. On this point, I highly recommend John
- Holt's "How Children Fail" (and by all means, get the 2nd edition), among
- many other books. Parents are important, but so are the schools.
