  13. Thanks to all who replied.  It was very useful and I will look up all 
  14. the sources suggested.  I didn't realize quite how much was involved
  15. in all this. :)  As to legality, I don't think there will be a problem, 
  16. so I'm not worried about that.  What I was really thinking of was something
  17. like a homing beacon (which is how I should have phrased my request in 
  18. the first place), a pulsed single frequency signal with a range of a few
  19. miles for maybe an hour.
