- I learned this great trick for antiquing unfinished shiny brass from a
- machinist at school. Just expose the unifinished brass surface to smoke. I
- used the smoke from a smouldering piece of pine to give a beautiful antique
- finish to a brass light dimmer switch ( I wanted to replace the cheap
- plastic dimmer dial with something more elegant). The antique finish that
- I obtained this way has stood up well to steady use.
