- Nice way to tie the steering knot, but also can take a small piece of
- clear plastic tubing and fit it over the knot in the steering toggle so
- that there would be no chance of it ever going back up through the metal
- loop and getting caught. You can also do this for the risers so that
- when the slider comes down it doesn't bang on the metal connector links
- and start screwing up the brass slider rings . All these are tacked down
- with mack tack to keep them in place. As far as velcro goes, it is
- imperative that when you land, that you put your steering
- toggles back on the risers to prevent that fraying that you were
- talking about. There are better means to secure the top flaps than
- velcro now also. Ask your rigger if he can put tuck ins instead. He
- will know what they are. They have small tabs that tuck under when the
- flaps are closed. They are put together with a bit of stiffening
- material so that velcro does not have to be used at all now except
- maybe for the steering toggles. I have over 600 jumps on this rig now
- and no fraying at all on my risers. BOB!!!
