- A minor correction here; PADI does not REQUIRE a "safety stop" under the above
- definition of "Recreational Diving." PADI does, however, RECOMMEND a "safety
- stop" any time a diver comes within 3 pressure groups of a no-decompression
- limit, and for any dive to a depth of 100 ft or greater.
-
- Safety stops do, however, become mandatory when a no-decompression limit is
- exceeded; but, that is "Emergency Decompression" (PADI's definition) and that
- violates the above definition of "Recreational Diving." ...of course when you
- add the human factor to screw up now and again, and qualify "no-decompression
- diving" as "planned no-decompression diving," then, PADI does mandate safety
- stops when one does not dive their plan (ie, emergency decompression).
