- In a previous article, buck@cavlry.enet.dec.com () says:
-
- >In one of their first moves exhibiting MAJOR
- >TPM -- Paramount has sent the trains on THE
- >BEAST back to PTC to have them all retrofitted
- >with those awful, painful, hateful, disgusting
- >individual racheting lap bars!!!
-
- Noooooooo!!!
-
- Where did you hear this, Buck? I'd hate to see this happen.
-
- And _why_ does The Beast need them anyway? It's not like it's a major
- airtime coaster or anything. (My thought is that many theme parks probably
- would want to install these on high-airtime coasters, in order to more
- firmly cram people into their seats.) The ride's got only one instance of
- relatively mild airtime in the second drop.
-
- They didn't need to do this. They needed to take off the brake before the
- second drop so we could really fly out of our seats! (It was great in the
- rain, though.... Ahh, memories...)
-
- Well, it was great while it lasted. Hopefully, KI will maintain their
- general policy of not pushing ratcheting lap bars into your lap, though.
- That's like adding insult to injury. (Great America loves to make it
- difficult for you to breathe on the American Eagle.... I don't want that
- on The Beast.) And hopefully the lapbars will have super-strong springs to
- keep them up in your chosen position (as Thunder Run does).
-
- Maybe my KI season pass wasn't such a good investment. We'll have to see,
- I guess.... :-(
-
- (A thought just occurred to me... What if they're going to do the same
- thing to the Grizzly at KD? That would be ultra-tragic! ACE should form
- an investment group to buy Kings Island or Kings Dominion and run the
- coasters like they should be run. Wouldn't that be great?)
