- There are a variety of departments that don't use mainstream sidearms. Heck, I
- even noticed that some of the officers in southern california (I lived there
- briefly) were using single action autos (M1911 or something similar I suspect).

- I would guess that the department probably doesn't issue the single action
- weapons, but rather has a rather liberal "carry list". But I guess I wouldn't
- be surprised if I found that they were issueing weapons. I have heard of
- officers carrying desert eagles before, so nothing would surprise me at this
- point :)
