  19. This is very situational, of course.  Here's my plan:

  21. When he refuses to cooperate, I cock my gun and inform him: "This gun now
  22. has a 2 oz. trigger pull.  It will go off if I breathe on it.  It's going
  23. to stay that way 'til you lie down."

  25. If he backs off and leaves, I let him go (he's not an immediate threat).
  26. If he takes a step toward me, I shoot. (Anyone crazy enough to advance on
  27. a cocked gun is prima facie a deadly threat).  If he lies down, I decock
  28. the gun and do something to summon help.  Otherwise, we continue to stand
  29. there -- and I give the gun a mild twitch once in a while to keep him
  30. thinking.

  32. Note:  Both my defensive pistols are DA with exposed hammers.  Neither
  33.        has a 2 oz. SA trigger pull. (So I lied. (-:{ )
