- Everyone seems to be ignoring an obvious factor here. Service. If
- the Mazda dealer takes care of a problem quickly and courteously,
- with little impact to the customer, that customer is much less likely
- to place as much emhpasis on the problem when filling out the
- survey. On the other hand, if the Ford dealer gives the customer
- the runaround (see the horrible Ford service thread), the customer
- is likely to over-emphasize the problem because it remains burned
- into their memory.
-
- For example, if someone asked about fuel system problems with my
- Jetta, I would be inclined to say that I had experienced none.
- However, I did actually have a problem with my fuel transfer pump,
- which was replace at no cost to me in a quick manner by the
- local VW dealer. Service can most definitely affect a customers
- perspective on problems with the car, even to the point where
- it can skew statistics.
