- I think the problem is the accelator cable got stuck somewhere. But I have no
- idea of checking it. Can anyone tell me how?
-
- It sounds like an accelerator cable stuck. The throttle housing is
- located on the intake manifold. Follow the aircleaner housing
- through a thick black plastic hose going into the throttle body.
- Here you will see the accelerator cable and possibly a cruise
- control cable. You should disconnect the cable at this point and
- make sure the throttle closes completely by starting the car and
- manually "juicing" the throttle. Now check that the cable is not
- bound up. If it is you will have to detatch it from the pedal
- in the interior and replace it, around $15-$20 from dealer.
- This is not a difficult job, you should be able to do it with a
- minimum of tools.
-
- These cables sometimes become sticky in very cold weather. I
- have tried to regrease them to save money but the repair
- usually doesn't last, so buy a new one.
