  26. Argh!  If you are going to wash records don't abuse them.

  28. There are (or at least were) brushes made for washing records.
  29. Soft, fine bristles that will reach into the groove.   Scrubbing is not
  30. going to get into the groove and unless done in a circular mode can
  31. cause more damage.

  33. A rag can pick up the contaminants you are trying to remove and abrade
  34. the surface.

  36. Make sure it's soap - and a very mild soap.   Too many hand soaps
  37. aren't soap but a detergent.  So if you use one of those use the
  38. detergent VERY sparingly.    The soap/detergent is needed to break up
  39. any oily deposits.  If the 'dirt' is not oil based then a good wetting
  40. agent is all that would be needed for the water to penetrate to the
  41. bottom of the grooves.
