- Hello
-
- I asked this question before and didn't get any responses so
- I'm going to try again.
-
- I have a technics SA-GX710, that I would like to add 2 more speakers
- to. (There is an A+B for the front speakers) Currently I have a pair of
- Mirage M-490's running at 6 ohms on the front channels. I would like to
- add a pair of M-290's to the b-channels and maybe later the Mirage Subwoofer.
-
- My question is this.
- 1. When I add the 2 290's the speakers would be run in parallel (right?)
- Now this would divide the ohms in half ( that would be 3 ohms, correct)
- As far as I can gather, the technics can only drive a 4 ohm load. So does
- this mean neither one of the speakers would work, or would they work with
- much heat generated by the amp, and would doing this damage my amplifier.
-
- 2. Now assuming the same scenario above, substitute a 90 watt/channel powered
- subwoofer. How would this change things?
-
- I would be very grateful for any information that you could give me.
-
- I'm trying to plan out the expansion of my system, and would like to build
- in pieces.
-
- Thanks
- Geno
