- Regarding what kind of speakers for the surround -- the most recent
- issue of _The Perfect Vision_ has an evaluation of three kinds of
- surround speaker systems (not just the surrounds, but whole speaker
- setups). At the end of the article, the author made one broad
- statement based on his evaluations: the single most important factor is
- to match the overall tonal quality (primarily, frequency response)
- among all the speakers. In fact, he made the observation at one point
- in the article that using all Radio Shack Minimus-7 speakers sounded
- better than anything else he had tried so far. That led him to insert
- an equalizer for the surrounds to match them against his main
- speakers. Once that was done, he was able to achieve excellent results
- and concentrated on finer differences among the speaker systems he was
- evaluating.
