- More like "UNpopular Science".

- You should use a green laser? Seriously, the wavelength of a
- CD player better be pretty close to the norm, or it might have
- trouble reading data.
-
- CD's use polycarbonate plastic mostly. It's pretty tough
- stuff. However, most CD's are made with only a thin lacquer
- coating on the information reflective layer. The label is
- printed on this thin protective coating. SOME label inks would
- crud up the lacquer and damage the reflective layer.
-
- If you damage the reflective layer, no laser is gonna correct
- it unless it generates LOTSA power. If you have corrosive inks
- or other problems in the thin protective coatings, the flea
- power of the playback laser isn't gonna do a thing.
