  11. I am posting this for a friend, sorry about the previous mess-up:

  13. Does anyone know if there is any arrangement between the Province
  14. of Ontario and the State of New York wrt traffic violations?

  16. I was stopped for speeding on Interstate 90, going 130 km/h 
  17. (Highway 90 is a 55 mph zone). The traffic on the highway was
  18. very light and I was in a hurry for other reasons but I am not
  19. asking for understanding.

  21. At home, I followed the instructions and sent in the notice of 
  22. violation andsigned it guilty, but included a letter of 
  23. explaination stating among other things that this was my first
  24. violation in six years of driving and asked them to be lenient.
  25. The town court answered with a rough, photocopied letter, with 
  26. a hand written message that the fine was $100 in US funds but that
  27. I could plea bargain it with the Assistant District Attorney.

  29. I went ahead and wrote the ADA a short letter and included my 
  30. previous letter of explaination.  I just got the reply saying that
  31. they will remove the charge of 6 points, because of no violations 
  32. in the previous 3 years --but-- that I must pay the reduced charge 
  33. of $200 + $25 surcharge!!  On top of that he wants me to send the 
  34. conviction stub of my license with a stamped self-addressed 
  35. envelope!! To my knowledge the only stub I could send them is the
  36. organ donor consent or the change of address stub.

  38. I am thinking of just paying the original fine of $100 US funds
  39. but I am not sure if I should or even if I would be off the hook
  40. if I do.
