- As I am approaching the 8th month I am kind of obsessed with worrying about
- the birth. Everything that happened the last time I don't want to happen this
- time, but since my mindset has changed (this time I will know what is going
- on) I am making arrangements to meet MY needs this time and not the need
- of the doctor or midwife or the nurse that wanted me to hurry up because it
- was time for her to go home! - I am asking my doctor questions that come
- to mind during my visits etc. HOWEVER....there is one thing that really
- concerns me: I want to stay home even after my water breaks. The onset of
- real labour can still take 20 to 40 hours afterwards. The hospital/doctor
- wants their patients to come in when that happens but I am not willing to
- do so. I know what to watch out for: fever...pains etc... and I know the
- rules I have to obey like not taking baths then and just plain stay clean.
- I read in various books that the woman can handle that at home...she is more
- likely to get an infection when the doctor starts examining...
- Last time my water broke - then they induced me right away! After 38 hours
- labour was well underway but I received a pain killer which slowed things down
- and after 48 hours I ended up with a C-section. NOT THIS TIME!!!!!!!
- The hospital wants to induce after 12 hours... but I am afraid that the
- uterus just might not be ready then besides the fact that I don't want to be in
- duced again! Did anyone stay home after the membranes broke?
