-
- I also had problems when I started my now-10-month-old daughter on formula.
- She became extremely fussy and unhappy. I would put her on Pedialyte to
- settle her stomach and she'd calm down, then when I gave her formula again
- she'd get upset again. I tried Isomil (soy-based), Similac (milk-based),
- SMA (milk-based, I think, and recommended by one of our pediatricians). The
- Similac and the SMA and some of the other milk-based formulas, like Enfamil,
- come in both low-iron and iron-fortified versions, and I tried both. I couldn't
- find a low-iron soy formula. ProSobee is another (I think) soy-based formula.
- None of these worked for us.
-
- I finally posted a plea for help to the net, and got a lot of helpful responses
- (thanks once again, everyone!) The upshot of the whole situation was that I
- gave up on regular formula and tried the expensive hypoallergenic formula
- called Nutramigen. It worked! My daughter was happy. I was happy. In light
- of this, the cost was insignificant. She was on Nutramigen until she was about
- six months old, then I switched her to Similac, which no longer bothers her.
-
- Good luck with your son!
