  21. I just read an ad in a magazine for an organization called Handicap
  22. Introductions.  It's evidently some sort of dating thing, or at least
  23. they try to match up people and send subscribers profiles of other
  24. subscribers.  It's kind of expensive - $125 a year - but it sort of
  25. interests me, though I feel somewhat ambivalent about it as well.  What
  26. do you all think of the concept of a dating service specifically for
  27. disabled people?  Gosh, perhaps there aren't very many other single
  28. people out there on the echo besides me, I don't know.  I am 45 now, and
  29. have always been single, and it bothers me more and more, and I often
  30. feel very lonely.

  32. In an ideal world, I would certainly rather just be out there trying to
  33. find a soul mate in the general public.  However, the world is not
  34. ideal, and I wonder if something like this Handicap Introductions might
  35. be useful.  I did write them, and asked them if their material is in an
  36. accessible format, such as braille, computer disk, or audio cassette.  I
  37. just wrote the letter though, it hasn't even gone out in the mail.
  38. I'll be interested in their response.  For $125 a year, I really want
  39. stuff in an accessible format.
