- WB>Did you read the posting I sent concerning details of applying for Social
- WB>Security Disability ?
-
- WB>isn't over. I was down to working 3 hours twice a week. I was scared to stop
- WB>even after the doctor ordered me to. However, after I did, there was a
- WB>surprising relief. I no longer felt a burden to keep trying to do what I
- WB>could not do. I knew I had ethically made a good decision for my clients.
- WB>They needed to see someone whose health made it possible to recieve the
- WB>services they needed, when they needed them and as often as they needed them
-
- WB>I have also been very worried after my health insurance was cancelled & no
- WB>one would insure me. What would happen if I got another MSRA infection or a
- WB>new problem such as cancer or a heart problem ? Well because I met criteria
- WB>for Social Security Disability & it had been adequately medically documented
- WB>a MEDICARE card came in the mail, it is to be effective February 1, 1993.

- Have not said anything to you since I saw you were to get the arm amputated.
- One of those situations where words were sort of hard to find. I hope
- Cameron takes your advice on SSDI. It is very difficult to make the decision
- to apply for it since, as you, it was hard to come to terms that I would not
- work again on any regular basis. I do some computer consulting but it just
- about pays for itself. But it does help mentally to know I can still do
- something productive. I have had a job since I was 14 and miss the daily
- grind and friendships.
-
- Cameron and I both have the same disease and it does not get better, just
- worse, although there are periods when you do feel almost normal (although
- most people I know would dispute that <g>). You can fell great at 7 AM and
- be barely able to get around at 10AM. One of the things going against
- Cameron getting SSDI are their own regs. As I told him I could not even get
- a lawyer to take my case but I won anyway. His biggest problem will be
- getting a doctor who is very well versed in AS and who will stand behind
- him in his quest to get it. That in my mind is what did it for me. Both
- doctors I had used supplied me their complete records along with a letter
- stating their opinion as to my condition and it's prognosis. It is, as you
- know, a long process and the sooner he starts the better.
-
- Hope this finds you doing better and in good spirits. You have been in my
- prayers. Mike...
- ~ SLMR 2.1a ~ Then again, I could be completely wrong... Nahhh!
