  19. I think that the BEST actor for a role should be chosen.  I DON'T
  20. think that a deaf actor should be chosen just BECAUSE she/he is
  21. deaf but rather because he/she beat out the competition in the
  22. auditions.

  24. Recently I read that Grant Shaud (sp?), the actor who plays Miles
  25. Silverberg on the Murphy Brown show is Presbyterian or Episcopalian
  26. or some other Protestant religion.  When they were auditioning for
  27. the show, they wanted someone who was Jewish, because Miles is a
  28. Jewish character.  However, in the auditions Shaud excelled over
  29. the other actors, so the casting agents chose him for the part.
  30. That's how the system SHOULD work.
