- If you saw 60 Minutes last Sunday evening, you are probably aware
- of what Deaf Culture stands for - if not, then perhaps it can best
- be explained as a culture that includes only those born deaf who
- only sign and only mingle among others like them.

- While I was born deaf, I've never been a part of the Deaf Culture
- as I was raised in the hearing world and I've never used signing
- as my mode of communication.

- I do not consider deafness a culture like others do. I personally
- feel it is too narrow-minded and confining for me. They have
- never accepted me because I'm oral. Also, even though I am deaf,
- I don't feel I have to belong to a specific group as I've never
- believed in such grouping. We are all human beings first...
