- I'll tell you what I think about people being firefighters. If
- they do
- it because they enjoy the work or wish to help the community and are
- willing to
- take orders and do all of the jobs then the person should apply. If
- they don't
- then they should look elsewhere. This is not a job that "Well it beats
- plumbing
- for a living" (I wish I had a dollar for everytime I heard a similar
- comment).
- My comment is for anyone considering the fire service. I currently work
- with
- both men and women in the fire service. A couple of the men & women I
- work with
- I wouldn't kick a hog in the a*& for the sorry job they do. A couple of
- the men
- & women I work with are priceless, they care about their job and try to
- help
- people. They do everything asked (within reason of course). I
- currently have a
- fairly new female working for me (about 15 months fire experience). If
- all
- firefighters shared the attitude that she has it would be great. She
- has a
- desire to learn how to do things instead of "I am putting in my time
- when can I
- get promoted".
