- There seems to be so many EMS services using "codes" anymore. On
- our department, we have only one "code". When we pronounce someone in
- thier home, we advise the dispatcher that we have a Code-1. Other than
- that, we tell them that: CPR is in progress, we have an arrest,
- firefighter down, send the police, etc...
- Often it is said that codes prevent the "scanning" public from
- knowing what is going on. However, anyone can get a list. What's the
- matter with speaking plain, but brief, english?
- How long does it take to train a new guy 60 different codes? Too
- long! Especially if he needs something quick!
-
- Of course, this is just an opinion, and it is formed from the
- environment in which I work. But it is something to think about.
- Usually, our job is hard enough. Why make it anymore difficult that it
- needs to be.
