- KR>not to worry about using the leg straps to a KED because they

- BW> It's what you call use the straps. If the boys in the big city want

- BW> faster, let them. The same thing happens here. The guys who work

- Ken, just my two cents worth: I agree with Bob, the straps
- are there for a reason, I believe in using them. EVEN
- though in doing so, it ended my career on a city F.D.
- While attempting to secure the legs straps on an obese MVA
- victim, I consequently tore the ligaments in two different
- places in my left wrist. If I had it to do all over, I
- would still apply the leg straps. Couldn't live with the
- fact if the victim sustained paralysis due to my neglect.
- We'll never get into trouble if we just do what we're
- supposed to do, RIGHT? :) BTW, not all city FF\EMS
- personnel are lazy or try to take short cuts. I was with
- the City of Utica FD for 8 yrs. prior to disability. I
- never had the misfortune of working with a lazy short
- cutting partner, in fact just the opposite. My first
- partner (only had two, aside from fill-ins) taught me a
- lot, and the right way of doing things. I was quite
- fortunate in that respect. I learned the proper and
- correct ways of doing things from him, and from that, was
- able to pass this down to my next partner. Too bad about
- the "big city boys" Bob was referring to. Unfortunately
- they do exist, but I don't think they are a majority.
-
- Take care Ken, *Barb*
- ... Can you feel anything when I do this?
