- Was noting your message regarding uniforms and protocols. Our
- service is a fairly small one (fifty employees) in a suburban
- North Carolina county. About 110,000 population in the county.
-
- Our uniforms are pretty typical of this part of the states,
- white shirts and navy blue trousers. We formerly used light
- blue shirts, but got away from them for two reasons: First, it
- tied us to one shirt manufacturer since no two manufacturers'
- shirts seemed to be the same shade of blue, and second,
- firefighters in some communities hereabouts wear that type
- shirt. Policemen in almost all areas hereabouts wear navy
- shirts and trousers, so not much problem with confusion there.
-
- Of late, we have been experimenting with a more casual summer
- type uniform, a cotton-blend pullover shirt, something like a
- golf shirt with uniform trousers. The paramedics feel it is
- more comfortable to work in and cooler. It is a compromise
- thusfar as our service has gone to required lumbar support belts
- when engaged in patient lifting, and they are more comfortable
- when worn over lighter clothing.
-
- You were also asking about protocols, procedures, and
- parmacologies on disk. All of ours are and I would be glad to
- post you a copy although it may take until Christmas to arrive.
- You might let me know what format you can handle. Our
- procedures are done in WordPerfect 5.1, but I can translate it
- into generic ASCII if that is preferable. Also, what type media
- would be best for you.
-
- Perhaps I can work a swap with you for your procedures, etc, if
- you have such on disk. In any event, would be interested in
- knowing more of your service in NSW. Talk with fellows in
- Sydney fairly regularly on amateur radio which is another hobby
- when I have the time.
-
- Let me know on the disk and give me an address to post it to you.
-
- Cheers,
- Wayne Ashworth, SysOp, NC EMS BBS
