- I want to buy an electric can opener. It's a small-ticket item that I
- haven't seen reviewed by CU in the past few years. Does anyone have a
- model that they particularly like -- especially, one that can handle
- rectangular or odd-shaped cans?
-
- I saw one in Fred Meyer which was expensive and unique. It is manufactured
- in France. They claim it doesn't leave any sharp edges. According to the
- illustration on the box, and from what I could tell by examining the
- business-end of the thing, it yanks the lid right off the can rather than
- cutting around the inside of the lid. The lids which had been removed in
- the illustration still had the "rim" attached, and both the rim and the top
- of the can had gnarled gear marks. Have you ever seen or used one of
- these things? The box showed odd-shaped cans and claimed the thing could
- handle them.
