- I believe your problem might be ergonomic in nature - it has nothing to do with
- the 'loudness' of the volume. (Keep the volume reasonable, though - that'll
- help keep your hearing intact. Very loud music can be tiring, but you said
- that you kept the volume quite low. Also, some claim that bad sounding sound
- can be fatiguing - but I'll leave that up to you to decide.)
-
- The headphones I use at a radio station make the area around my ears ache. They
- just don't fit right and put too much pressure at certain points. Undo muscle
- tension results as my body tries to correct for the bad design. I have a
- similiar problem with eye/sun glasses - unless they are set up just right they
- cause me great pain.
-
- Sony has a new (I think) design on some of their headphones. Instead of a
- round (or completely inclosed) ear-piece, it is oval, flat and much more rigid.
- My ears/head like them quite a bit.
-
- I'd recommend going to a stereo store and trying on some headphones. Audition
- them for sound AND fit. Also look at how much ambient noise they let in if it
- is a factor for you. Some of the more expensive headphones ($80 or so) are
- incredibly comfortable, but they don't let much ambient noise through...
-
- Good luck.
