-> If Clinton can force private industry to hire 1,000,000 unempolyed
-> Americans at a living wage that means the goverment would have an
-> additional 14,000,000,000.00.
...Wait a minute there.... did you actually mean to say 'FORCE'?
- It is not the place of government to run the private sector in a free-market economy. You want socialism? What agency should decide who gets assigned to what job?
- Maybe I've been listening and reading news from a different planet (entirely possible :-) ), but it seems that most of the Dem's proposed policy will lead to smaller companies: Most of the proposed nicities (mandatory training reserves, mandatory family leave, insurance, etc.) have a "cutoff" of small business with less than 50 people. If enacted It seems that small companies with 50-75 people (especially those that are boarderline already) will have a STRONG temptation to drop below the magic number.
Even those that don't will most likely drop a few people to save money (how do you adjust for a new 10% payroll tax? Fire 1/10 of your workforce). Whichever, they will have to raise prices to keep profits.
- Oh yeah, you are forgetting one thing. The money has to come from somewhere. It makes no difference if people are supported by tax dollars or by higher prices. We still pay. The only way for jobs to really be added is for companies to grow on thier own because there is a market for their product/service. The government can't do this.
Of course, this post only has meaning if you really meant "FORCE" ! :-)
