Well PO 2 Phillip G***** (name deleted out of courtesy) was a
fellow Navy guy when I was a Navy girl. He was gay. He was also
one of my best friends. I suppose that is because he never came
on to me, never assumed anything about me because I was in "A
Man's Job" nor did he treat me like some kind of piece of meat
that so many of my other male co-workers did. So my experience
with a Homosexual Male in the service was a positive one. And
everyone knew he was gay.
   However, that was before AIDS was such a problem. I think it
is a bad idea because I believe that many who are homosexual who
join the service and contract the disease will be treated at the
taxpayers expense. If you thin we spend a lot on the military
now, just wait until that happens.
   As far as the social aspects go. There was a female
homosexual in my Boot Camp Company (In fact, since she had ROTC
in High School she was out company leader). She had joined on
the "Buddy System" with her homosexual lover. It took them all
of three weeks to find out the two were an "Item" and processed
them out. However she never acted in any fashion that made the
rest of us uncomfortable, infact we all were pretty sad that she
had to go. She was very fair as a company leader. I guess I
would have been uncomfortable in the shower with her knowing she
was gay. However, I never knew till after she was processed out
of our company.
   If I were male, and I had to shower or live in close quarters
with a blatant homosexual I would be very uncomfortable. Also,
if he was very blatant about his sexuality and tried to press it
with me, I'd beat the S&*^ out of him. I doubt he'd do it again.
   Still I vote no to Slick Willies brillant idea of letting
professed homosexuals in.
